So whether you're driving, flying, travelling by coach, plane or train, the Snowy Mountains is closer than you think.

By Air

Regional Express, or Rex, is Australia's largest independent regional airline, connecting the Snowy Mountains to regional centres across New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia. Rex Airlines (Winter Only)

By Coach

There are a few coach companies which operator out of Sydney and Canberra which regularly travel to the Snowy Mountains. Click below for more details.
Transborder Express

By Car

The Snowy Mountains is located half way between Sydney and Melbourne. Travelling by car is the most convenient but also the most gratifying as the mountain scenery is breathtaking.

From Sydney it is an easy drive down the Hume Expressway. Before reaching Yass, turn left for Canberra/Cooma and follow the signs to Cooma. Upon leaving Cooma, you have the option of taking the Kosciuszko Road to Jindabyne, Thredbo & Perisher Valley or, taking the Snowy Mountains Highway to Adaminaby and on into the northern end of the Kosciuszko National Park.

From Melbourne Take Highway One through Gippsland turning in at Cann River to the Monaro Highway and Bombala and then on to Cooma. This should take about seven hours Or continue on to Merimbula and Bega and take the Snowy Mountains Highway up Brown Mountain to Nimmitabel and onto Cooma. This route is slightly longer and you should allow an extra two hours

Alternatively you can drive the Kosciuszko Alpine Way via Khancoban. This is approximately a six hour drive from Melbourne and a further two hours to Jindabyne.

From the West leave the Hume Highway and travel through Tumut and Talbingo on the Snowy Mountains Highway to Adaminaby and on to Cooma. The journey from Tumut to Cooma takes approximately 2 1/2 hours.

Other routes include the Elliot Way from Tumbarumba to Cabramurra and the spectacular Cabramurra to Khancoban Road which is only open in summer

All roads mentoined are fully sealed between the Snowy Mountains, Sydney and Melbourne.
